My name is Kim Jurczyk and I recently graduated from Penn State University with degrees in English and Communication Arts and Sciences. I am currently living in Lusaka, Zambia as a Young Adult Volunteer (YAV) with the Presbyterian Church (USA). For my service year, I’m serving as the Communications Associate for the Church of Central Africa Presbyterian (CCAP) Synod of Zambia. My work includes writing newsletters for the synod, interviewing program officers, and editing the synod’s website. I’m also involved with a women’s micro loan program called Village Savings and Loan Association (VSLA) and the Christian Youth Fellowship (CYF) choir. Both are linked to the Mandevu CCAP congregation.
This blog is a place for reflection, sharing, and critical thinking about my experience in Zambia. I will include blog posts about Zambian culture, my site placement, and the inevitable struggles and victories I will encounter on this journey.
If you would like to support me on this journey and give to my YAV year, you can follow this link to donate: https://www.presbyterianmission.org/donate/E210252/
Thank you to everyone who is supporting me on this incredible chapter of my life. And please read, share, and follow this blog!
